Kerrville Morning Rotary Supports Families & Literacy, Inc.

Kerrville Morning Rotary recently presented a $1,000 check to Families & Literacy, Inc. for use in purchasing curriculum. Families & Literacy, Inc., a nonprofit adult education organization, offers classes for adults who are working toward their GED certification.

Many adults also enroll in English as a second language classes to gain greater proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking with the goal of improving their lives and the lives of their families.

"It’s an honor for Morning Rotary to partner with Families & Literacy. Lack of education is at the core of many of society's problems such as crime, poverty, and dependence on welfare programs. We believe support for this program will go a long way in breaking the cycle of hopelessness," said Buck, Morning Rotary President.

"Families & Literacy appreciates the partnership with Morning Rotary. Although our class and book fees are reasonable, this generous donation will allow additional students the opportunity to take classes with less financial burden," said Mindy Wendele, Families & Literacy, Inc. Executive Director.
